ACADEMIC
COURSEWORK
You can earn CEUs by taking college or university courses that help you grow as an interpreter. The class does not have to be directly about interpreting — subjects like Linguistics, Psychology, Education, Business, and Social Work may all count as long as they support your professional development.

Below is a simple breakdown of how it works and how to apply.
How CEUs Are Calculated
CEUs are awarded based on the number of credit hours you complete:
-
Semester course: 1 credit hour = 1.5 CEUs
-
Quarter course: 1 credit hour = 1.0 CEUs
How to Apply
Step 1: Choose Your Course
Select a course at an accredited college or university. Make sure it supports your growth as an interpreter, even if it’s not interpreting-specific.

Step 2: Submit Your Application
Fill out the Academic Coursework Application within the GaRID Member Portal and upload the required documents:
-
Course outline or description
-
Official transcript showing you passed with a C (2.0) or better
-
