WHO WE ARE.
GaRID is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization and Georgia’s official affiliate chapter of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID), the national organization that supports and advances the interpreting profession. We represent a statewide community of interpreters, students, and allies dedicated to strengthening the field and expanding communication access for Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard-of-hearing communities.
Since 1971, GaRID has brought people together to learn, lead, and serve. Our work centers on high-quality professional development, ethical practice, meaningful community partnerships, and advocacy grounded in equity and respect.
We believe that strong interpreters help build strong communities. That’s why we create opportunities for every interpreter to grow, connect, and contribute to a more accessible Georgia.

OUR REGIONAL STRUCTURE.
GaRID’s regional structure helps us stay connected, responsive, and community-centered across the entire state of Georgia. Our six regions bring interpreters, students, and Deaf community members together through localized outreach, professional development, and leadership opportunities. By organizing our work regionally, we ensure that every corner of Georgia—urban, suburban, and rural—has access to support, resources, and pathways to get involved.
Together, our regional networks strengthen communication access statewide and help us build a vibrant, unified interpreting community. Look at the document to find out which counties are included in each region and learn more about how our statewide network is organized.
